Typical applications

  • Drive repair and refurbishment
  • Cooling-fan and capacitor replacement
  • Planned maintenance stock

Key features

  • Matched to the drive model
  • Cooling fans and capacitors for life extension
  • Repair support on request

Selection notes

Drive spares must match the drive exactly, so work from the nameplate rather than from the kW alone. Note the manufacturer, model and type code, serial number, rated current and voltage, and the firmware or hardware revision where it is shown. Two drives with the same kW can use different power modules and control cards.

  • DC-bus capacitors: they age with heat and hours, and a drive that trips on undervoltage or ripple faults may need them replaced as a set.
  • Cooling fans: low-cost parts that protect everything else; replace them when noisy or slow, before the drive overheats.
  • Control cards and keypads: parameters and firmware may need to be loaded after replacement, so save the parameter set first.
  • Wait for the DC bus to discharge as the manual states before opening the drive, and leave the work to a qualified person.

Read the fault history before ordering, because the fault code points to the failed block. For a complete replacement see variable frequency drives, and for the surrounding panel parts see drive panel spares. Share the photographs of the nameplate with your enquiry.

Frequently asked questions

What details are needed to order a VFD spare?

The drive make, model or type code, serial number, rated current and voltage, and the fault code or part description. A clear photograph of the nameplate and of the failed part avoids ordering a similar but incompatible item.

When should DC-bus capacitors be replaced?

Capacitors degrade with temperature and running hours. Replace them when the manufacturer's service interval is reached, or when the drive shows capacitor-related faults or reduced capacity. Replace as a matched set rather than singly. Record the replacement date so the next interval can be planned.

Is it better to repair or replace an old drive?

It depends on parts availability, the cost of the repair and the age of the drive. If the make is obsolete or several boards are faulty, replacement with a current model is often more economical. We can advise from the nameplate.
