Telangana and Andhra Pradesh share a Telugu-speaking heartland but have quite different industrial profiles. Hyderabad and its ring of industrial parks are known for pharmaceuticals, bulk drugs, IT and data infrastructure, and aerospace and defence manufacturing. Coastal Andhra, around Visakhapatnam, has a steel plant, a major port, refining, shipbuilding and a pharma city. Further south, Sri City and the Chennai-adjacent belt host auto and electronics units. Hyderabad and the pharma belt

Pharmaceutical and bulk-drug plants around Hyderabad and in Visakhapatnam use solvents, so parts of the plant are hazardous areas. That has a direct effect on equipment: flameproof motors and non-sparkling motors in solvent areas, chemical pumps and valves for process lines, and instrumentation cables and transmitters for control loops. Visakhapatnam and the Andhra coast

The Visakhapatnam region combines steel, port handling, refining, shipbuilding and heavy engineering. Steel and port work is crane duty: slip-ring motors, brake motors, roller table motors, mill-duty DC motors and DC drives. Power supply to arc and induction furnaces uses furnace transformers and EHV transformers, with power transformers at substations.
